Environment clearance is required for manufacturing of organics products or not?

 

MoEF&CC has published the circular related to Environment clearance is required for manufacturing of organics products or not on dated 9th January 2023.

 

As per this published Circular by MoED&CC, New Delhi,  Project which pertain to extraction of organic compounds from plants without any chemical synthesis, but involve mixing/blending, percolation with water and extracting with solvent, are not covered under “5(f) –Synthetic Organic chemical Industry of the schedule of the EIA Notification 2006 and shall not require prior Environment Clearance”

However, requisite consent to establish/operate shall be obtained from the Concerned state Pollution Control Board/UT Pollution Control Committee under the provision of Air Act, 1981 and water act, 1974. Further, manufacturing of synthetic organic chemical to be used for the above extraction, if any, shall require EC as per the provisions of EIA Notification, 2006 as amended from time to time.
